2026–2027 Arena Scheduling Guide
What Is Arena Scheduling?
Arena Scheduling allows students to build their own class schedules in Skyward. Students choose teachers, class periods, and electives. As long as graduation requirements, prerequisites, and full schedules are met, the schedule students create will be the one they keep. No schedule changes will be made in the fall.
Graduation Requirements
Students can check their progress by logging in to Skyward and selecting Graduation Requirements. The screen shows:
- Total credits required (34)
- Credits completed
- Credits in progress
- Courses that count toward requirement categories
Courses currently in the schedule may appear as “Completed” until final grades post.
Choosing Your Classes
Before scheduling, complete the Preparing for Arena Scheduling Google Form emailed to you.
Other Factors to Consider
- CTE Pathways
- Honors Diploma
- NCAA Eligibility
- World Languages
- Opportunity Scholarship
- Concurrent Enrollment (Grades 11–12 with 3.0+ GPA)
- Dual Language Immersion (DLI)
- TTECH (Grades 11–12) — Only one program allowed at a time
- ACE Center (Grades 10–12)
Class Fees
Starting in 2026–27, Utah requires each school to offer a Fee‑Free Path to Graduation. A sample plan is available through the district.
To check whether a class has a fee and how much it costs, refer to the District Fee Schedule. Note that the final 2026–27 fee schedule is approved after June 1.
Class Information
- Master Schedule: Lists available classes and which periods they are taught.
- Course Catalog: Includes class descriptions, prerequisites, and fee details. Not all catalog classes run every year.
Tryout & Teacher-Approval Classes
The following classes require approval or tryouts:
- Advanced Strength & Conditioning (Football)
- Ballroom & Intermediate Ballroom
- Dance Company
- DLI Courses
- Drill Team
- Cheer
- Color Guard
- Concert Choir, Show Choir, Bella Voce
- HOPE Squad
- Jazz Band
- Symphonic Orchestra
- Advanced Theatre & Advanced Musical Theatre
- Theatre Productions
- Stage Craft
- Student Government
- Yearbook & Advanced Commercial Photo
Important: If you expect to make a tryout class, do not schedule a core class during that period. Use an elective you don’t mind losing.
Special Circumstances
Students with IEPs
Case managers will pre‑place required classes. Students only need to select remaining periods.
Students Coming from Charter Schools (Math Placement)
If entering SHS having completed Math 1 in 8th grade, check the Master Schedule for available Math 2 periods, choose your preferred time, and email your counselor. Placement occurs once documentation is received.
